Since a couple of years already, I´ve joined the army of people cultivating healthy habits. From hitting the gym every few days, to jogging and home training, biking through the city and counting my steps, I am trying to do my best to stay fit. This affected at a certain extent my travel choices as well, as I am definitely trying to give space to my sporting habits .
As someone who always love to be in the middle of nature, my sport-oriented activities aren´t a dramatic challenge to my travel style. There are some adjustments here and there, but overall I am clearly following with more determination a pattern that was always there.
I am jogging for a few years already. First, I was just trying to train my body and used to jog as a demotivated turtle. Now, after intensive trainings for at least twice the week, I am jumping as a bunny hitting the grass. There is no marathon in sight yet, as I am doing my best to keep it as a hobby, but in the last months I was considering trying my luck at least for a half marathon.
With or without a plan, running - especially in the morning, when the sun is about to rise, or late in the fresh summer evenings - requested some changes in my travel schedule. Adding some running shoes and outfits, keeping my music list ready for my headphones. The advantage: running alongside the Mosel river, with a view of the Cochem Castle. What could it be more motivational than that?
Nature is always having a very strong effect on me, and being able to run to the top of the hills or mountains, in summer or autumn, while being rewarded with such stunning views is the best I can get.
As I am wearing a smart watch, keeping my heartbeats and my steps under control, I am also trying to avoid any excesses. Just for pleasure and for the beauty of the views.
Cochem, where I´ve spent one full week last year - more on my time there soon, was only one of the destinations that were very well adjusted to my new lifestyle.
But although I love nature, city trips remain very attractive destinations, especially for a short weekend. A long weekend in Munich, where I regularly visit for fun, pleasure and business, brought me to Flag Hotel in the Moosach part of the city. Besides a big park only few minutes away, the hotel was also provided with a small yet practical fitness room.
Out in a spa weekend in Szczecin, we booked Radisson Hotel, where in addition to a fitness room, we also had access to sauna and swimming pool.
What can you expect more?
As I am sure my wellness and fitness journey will continue in the next months and years, I can only expect even more such discoveries. New journeys, new destinations, for better and healthier days.
